Tumut is located about 40 kms south of the Hume Highway at the northern end of the Snowy Mountains. The area has a series of shared use single track trails located in the Tumut State Forest just above the town. These have been constructed in accordance with International Mountain Bike Association (IMBA) guidelines so are well suited to mountain bike use. In addition, there are a stack of 4WD tracks to the south west of town extending to Batlow and southwards past the Blowering Dam.
