Woodend is located 80 kilometres to the north west of Melbourne. The Wombat Track is the best known trail in the area. The trail covers about 18 kilometres in two main loops with the majority of this being single trail. The trails vary from technical trails including fast but tight downhill runs to fast flowing open single trail. The Wombat Track is a very popular track in the Victorian MTB community.

There are also a large number of cycling tracks around the Wombat Track and the base of Mount Macedon in the Macedon Regional Park.
